The UCD business podcast features world-renowned academics, industry leaders and alumni from Ireland’s leading graduate business school.
UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School has launched a new podcast series featuring world-renowned academics, industry leaders and alumni from Ireland’s leading graduate business school.
“We see it as imperative to continue to serve our community during one of the greatest challenges of our generation,” said Professor Anthony Brabazon, Dean of the UCD College of Business. “Drawing from our academic expertise, as well as impact makers amongst our alumni community, we will be reaching out to our students and the wider business community through a compelling series of conversations on a range of topical issues during these unprecedented times.”
The UCD Business Impact podcast series was created in direct response to the COVID-19 pandemic and will be hosted by former Business Post Editor and Business Media and Corporate Communications lecturer, Emmet Oliver.
Members of UCD Smurfit School’s international business community will offer their perspectives through insightful conversations on topics from Operational Risk, Corporate Governance, Supply Chain, Management and more as we face the ripple effects from the Coronavirus pandemic on business and society.
Business and government leaders in our alumni community — from Singapore to New York City—will offer their perspectives on the future of the global economy and their experience combatting COVID-19, at times on the frontlines.
These interviews will offer insight, spark curiosity and challenge listeners and students to rethink how they will do business in a changing world.
For current UCD Smurfit School students, it is a way to learn more about the extensive network of academic and business expertise within the UCD Business community and to enhance their connections to mentors and potential employers.
“Our location in Dublin, home to the European headquarters of many of the world’s leading multinational companies, allows our students to easily connect with global business leaders and companies influencing the future of business,” said Professor Gerardine Doyle, Dean of UCD Smurfit School.
“It is our hope that the podcast will allow our students to learn about the world-class research conducted in the School and to fully comprehend the depth and breadth of the UCD Smurfit School network both in Ireland and around the world, who are on hand to help them effectively pursue their academic and career goals.”
The first episodes of the UCD Business Impact podcast feature Professor Niamh Brennan, Ireland’s leading expert on corporate governance in her episode, “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly: COVID-19 Financial Impact”; and Andreas Hoepner, Professor of Operational Risk and the only academic member to serve on the EU’s Technical Expert Group on Sustainable Finance, discussing “Why Being Short Term No Longer Works in Business”.
New episodes will be released every Tuesday and will be available on iTunes, as well as the UCD Smurfit School website.
