Entry requirements

To make an application for one of our MSc courses, you will require one of the following:

  • A good UK honours degree (2.2 minimum).
  • An equivalent overseas degree recognised by Aston Business School.


  • A completed application form, available on our website
  • An official academic transcript of your university grades to date.
  • Two professional references, at least one of which must be from an academic referee.

For international students

  • An official academic transcript with an English translation of your university grades to date.
  • International students whose native language is not English will also need to satisfy our English language requirements with one of the following:
    • IELTS score of 6.5 overall, with a minimum of 6 in speaking, listening, reading and writing.
    • TOEFL Internet Based Test score of 93 overall, 19 in speaking and listening, 18 in reading and 23 in writing*.
    • PEARSON ACADEMIC score of 63 overall, with a minimum of 57 in speaking, listening, reading and writing*.
    • CAE University of Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English: Grade A or CPE University of Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English:
      Grade C*.

If you studied for a minimum period of two years in the UK and achieved at least a 2:2 within the last two years then we would normally consider you to have met our English language requirements.

If you studied for a minimum period of one year in the UK and achieved at least a 2:1 within the last two years then we would normally consider you to have met our English language requirements.

Alternatively if you have been domiciled in a majority English-speaking country for 2 years prior to application then we may consider the requirements met. 

Applicants meeting either of these criteria may not be required to present an IELTS as part of a Tier 4 (General) visa application. Pre-sessional English language programmes are available for good applicants whose English qualification falls just short of these requirements. 

Please note that if we have not received sufficient evidence of analytical and quantitative stills with your application, we may request a minimum GMAT score of 550 to support your application.
