The MS in Chemical Engineering prepares students for the many unique roles played by chemical engineers in translating molecular insights and discoveries into products, processes, and ideas to address the world’s most pressing challenges. Our curriculum integrates a combination of advanced fundamentals, modern topics, and practical skills to refine students’ analytical, research, business, and leadership skills, combining the technical and the practical to add value and breadth to their expertise.
All MS students work closely with our leading faculty on research projects. Examples of research themes within the department include nanomaterials, polymers, and biomaterials, computational & theoretical materials design, catalysis and electrochemical engineering, immunoengineering, drug delivery and biometrology, energy conversion and storage, techno economic and lifecycle analysis, and decarbonization and sustainable chemical manufacture.
Our MS experience is designed to meet the demand for capable chemical engineers in growing areas of the discipline. To enhance the value of their study and support their future transition to the workforce, and in consultation with their academic advisor, students are further encouraged to consider concentrating their elective choices by selecting courses within one of the areas of emphasis listed below.
